MARIA JAKOBSSON

Cult Design's youngest designer, Maria Jakobsson, has a background in the textile industry. An avid interest in clothing and millinery studies at the Cutters Academy in Gothenburg was followed by a fashion design course at the Nordic Design School in Borås. A work experience position with Cult Design aroused her interest in homeware products. Maria's first job as a designer was with textile designers C Jahn AB in Borås, where she worked for about four years creating patterns for curtains, bed linen and towels. The end clients were Swedish and Scandinavian companies in need of help with product development.
However, fabric patterns are flat and Maria longed to work in materials that would allow her to explore her art in three dimensions. So she got back in touch with Cult Design and has been one of our designers since spring 2008.
The greatest challenge for Maria is creating products that the end consumer wants to buy. Getting the goods moving out of the shop is important to Maria.
